Alva Nora Elaine Brooks

It is with great sadness that we announce Alva Nora Brooks has passed on to go home to join her late husband in the heavens on February 14th at 1:40am. Born January 8th, 1972. She was 47 years old. 

Alva has left behind many friends and family. She leaves behind her only daughter, Dakota Brooks, her mother, Caroline Travers, her brothers, Louis Flett and Sam Murdock. Alva leaves behind cherished best friends Loretta Ferland and Sharon James. Alva has touched the heart of many people and has laughed with so many, her laughter can be heard distances away. Alva was a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a cousin, a niece, and auntie. She will be greatly missed. 

Alva was diagnosed in June 2018 with Stage 4 cancer. Alva is a true resilient indigenous woman who fought a hard battle with cancer. Her daughter, Dakota, kept Alva positive in her time of need and used her humor to pass on time in the hospital rooms. Upon Alva's passing, she was surrounded by her daughter, mother, the supportive friends of her mother, who feasted with her one last time. 

Alva lost her late husband, Alain Lee Brooks, in April 2014. She mourned his loss greatly. Her daughter is grieving but happy that they are reuniting once again. 

We are mourning her loss, but Alva must be joyous to meet her husband and family that have left earth. Bless this beautiful woman who has gone home. When you are sad, think of the good times because they are what mattered the most.

Wake service will be held on Wednesday February 20, 2019 from 7pm – 11pm at Eternal Grace Funerals 1111 Logan Ave at McPhillips St. Funeral will be held on Thursday February 21, 2019 11:30 am.  Interment Brookside Cemetery, lunch to follow.
