It’s with great sadness the Berens family announces the peaceful passing of Norman James Edward Berens at the age of 69 years on April 22, 2026, at the Health Science Centre surrounded by his loving family. Late Norman worked as a Band Constable for Berens River, he spent most of his life working on the winter road packing, flooding/maintaining the road. He was a heavy equipment operator, a mechanic and had also worked carpentry. Norman had also worked on the all-weather road, shortly after he stopped working due to his illness. Norman was a hard-working strong man, who loved to hunt, fish and just being outdoors.
Norman was predeceased by his parents Patrica Hilda Jane Berens, December 20, 2022, Edmund Alfred Berens, March 4, 2008, Rose Goosehead (nee) Berens, April 26, 2021, and Bernadette Hinchcliffe (nee) Berens, March 6, 2026.
Survived by his son; Edward Berens (Darilyn), daughter Debbie Berens (Hughie) Sisters; Josephine Berens, Alvina Berens, Besty Berens (Allan), Catharine Sutherland. Brothers; Keith Berens, Leon Berens, Bernard Berens (Brenda) and Hilton Berens. Aunt Rosie George. Grand children; Serenity Moar, Coltin Johnston, Elijah Moar-Berens, Issac Ross, Brayden Ross, Hughie Ross Jr., Nicolas Ross, Maleigha Ross and Grayson Ross. Great grandchildren; Maria Moar and Tyrell Poole-Moar. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Wake will be held on Thursday April 30,2026 from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Deliverance Centre, 1831 Selkirk Avenue. Wake service will continue Friday May 1,2026 at the United Church in Berens River. Funeral service will follow on Saturday May 2,2026 at 11 a.m. also from the church. Rev. Roy Bouchie officiating. Interment Berens River First Nation.
