It is with profound sadness, the family announces the sudden and peaceful passing of Stefanie Mae Nielsen-Cochrane, at her home in Winnipeg, at the age of 35.
Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory is father Alexander Cochrane, mother Edna Nielsen (Ron Munroe); children Montana, Sonnie, Justice, and Breid.
Also left to mourn, her brother Brian (Cristine); sisters Michelle (Osowsh) and Tasheana; niece Kylah and nephews Joaquin, Lukas, Oliver and special nephew Pinasie. Her honorary siblings Keith, Patricia, Johnny, Theresa, Viola and Lawrence. In addition, she leaves to mourn, Gordie Manningway, Ferrell Desjarlais, Lonny Fraser, Darren Frost, Linda “Granny” Starr, Keri Kooting, Cynthia “Putt” Thomas; the Cochrane, Nielsen, and Munroe-Robinson families; and many friends with whom she had a close and special relationship.
Stefanie was predeceased by her grandparents Harold “Halla” and Florence Cochrane, Gladys Starr; uncle Larry Cochrane, aunt Charlotte Murdock; Godmother Sharon Lang; cousins Taleasha Nielsen and Randy Cochrane; special friends Bruce Fontaine and Dwayne Simard; and honorary sister Sherry.
Stefanie was a member of Fisher River Cree Nation and born on November 13th, 1985 to Alexander Cochrane and Edna Nielsen in Winnipeg. She grew up in Fort Rouge where she attended Lord Roberts Elementary and Churchill High School. Anyone who knew Stef, knew that she was kind, loving and caring with a fun sense of humor. She had a passion for music, movies, and attending pow-wows. She loved having movie nights with her kids, family gatherings, and going to the beach. Beading and medicine gathering were always a source of positivity for her. Stefanie’s family and friends will forever miss her, more than words can say.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold (Sonny) Cochrane, Jarrett Cochrane, Leslie Morriseau, Orry Morriseau, Evan Smith, and Mike Smith.
The family would like to acknowledge her ceremonial and pow-wow family.

A private traditional service will be held at Eternal Grace Funerals in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As her wishes, cremation will take place, followed by interment ceremony in Fisher River Cree Nation at a later date.
